It is designed and built with a perfect combination of weights and counterbalances. Weights are easily positioned by the operator (because different shapes and types of material require different balance attitudes). Arm, which is over 4" long, can be lowered (out of the way) when measuring work. Lever and weight mechanisms are perfectly tuned and mounted on a heavy steel base.
